Cycling Through Mallorca with Mills & Honey: The First Three Days

February called for a cycling adventure, and what better way to kick off the year than by taking on the stunning roads of Mallorca? With the Tramuntana mountains, picturesque coastlines, and dreamy winding roads, the island is a cyclist's paradise—and I was ready to soak it all in again (I’ve been there in March 2024 and totally loved it).
Once again Mills & Honey was my partner for my time on the island and Alfonso and his team are specialized in customized, high-end bike trips in Mallorca. They provide top-tier bikes and hotels, expertly curated routes, and local insights, ensuring an unforgettable cycling experience.

Day 1: Into the Tramuntana Mountains (66km / Climbing: 1183m+)

Our journey began with a scenic loop from Hotel Portixol into the Tramuntana mountains. Alfonso from Mills & Honey delivered our Specialized Aethos bikes from North Wind Cycles and joined us for the ride, making it even more special. We tackled climbs like Coll de Sa Creu (6km at 6%) and Galilea (5km at 6%), with stunning views along the way. After a beautiful descent through Val Superna, we stopped for coffee at Doble Café in Esporles (big fan of this place) before cruising back to our hotel in Palma.

Day 2: Rolling Through Mallorca’s Heartland (78 km. / Climbing: 548m+)

Xim from Mills & Honey picked us up and brought us to the starting point of today’s ride (and brought our luggage to the next hotel and finish for today). We cycled through wine-country, passing Santa Margalida and Muro, before reaching Playa de Muro and Alcudia. The coastal road through Mal Pas was a highlight, leading us into Pollença, where we wrapped up the day in the town’s historic center and checked in to our next hotel. The boutique hotel Can Aulí is a stunning restored 17th-century townhouse and combines rustic charm with modern elegance. Its atmosphere and excellent service made it a perfect retreat after another day of cycling.

Day 3: The Legendary Cap de Formentor (62km / Climbing: 1104m+)

Cap de Formentor, the island’s northernmost point has been on our bucket list again and we didn’t want to miss this scenic ride. We started early to beat the traffic (but not too early to still enjoy the delicious local breakfast at Can Auli), making our way along the undulating roads towards Port de Pollença before tackling the breathtaking 18km climb to the lighthouse. Every twist and turn of this legendary route offered jaw-dropping views, making the effort completely worth it. On our way back we also climbed to Sa Talaia de Albercutx, a viewpoint that provided a great panorama of the island. A final coffee stop in Port de Pollença was the perfect way to celebrate another unforgettable day of riding.
